Stephen Lysaght will give us a presentation of his Botanical Tour of Baja California in April 2021. Baja Calfornia was not on his "bucket list" of destinations, but after having his planned trip to Namibia with Guillermo Rivera (Plant Expeditions) cancelled twice in 2020 & 2021, he and his spouse decided to join his first post-Covid tour there. Were they ever surprised and delighted by the botanical wonderland that is Baja California! From Tijuana they traveled to San Quintin. Catavina, Guerrero Negro, Vizcaino, Mulege, Loreto, Isla Carmen, Danzante, Puerto San Carlos, Isla Magdalena, Puerto San Carlos, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo, San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, and Todos los Santos. Along the way, they saw incredible endemic plants unique to Baja California, many of which you may have in your collections and/or gardens. We look forward to seeing all the plants they encountered on their journey at our next meeting. Stephen Lysaght is a former docent and staff member at Ruth Bancroft Garden. He is an active member of both SF Succulent and Cactus and SF Bromeliad Societies. Stephen has also served as a judge for several Cactus and Succulent Shows.
